This course provides a comprehensive look at some of the harmful invasive species that currently threaten the health and stability of Canadian forests. Each lesson focuses on a species traits, dispersal, impacts, and management. Learning how to identify these invasive forest pests is important in stopping their spread and reducing their ecological, economic, and social impacts.
You will learn how to identify and report 5 important invasive species, including:
- White Pine Blister Rust (Cronartium ribicola)
- Dutch Elm Disease (Ophiostoma novo-ulmi)
- Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis)
- Spongy Moth (Lymantria dispar dispar)
- Hemlock Woolly Adelgid (Adelges tsugae)
In order to receive a certificate of completion for this course, you must read through each module and receive a passing grade of 80% or above on the final exam.
